Description

The Major Craft Tachi Jigi Dojo Standard is a metal jig designed specifically for tachiuo (cutlassfish) jigging, built to produce automatic action on an easy one-pitch jerk — an accessible, all-round starting point for the technique. A low centre-of-gravity shape with a smoothed rear section reduces water resistance for a fast, stable fall. This 180g model is finished in the Red Gold colourway.

It's fitted with Major Craft's own penetration-focused Japanese-made hooks, the Tachi Jigi Dojo 4-Hook and Tachi Jigi Dojo Assist Hook, built to convert bites from a fish notorious for its soft take.

Information

The swimming action

A low centre of gravity and smoothed rear section cut water resistance and let the jig fall fast and stable, producing automatic action on an easy one-pitch jerk without a complicated retrieve.

When to throw it

Built for tachiuo (cutlassfish) jigging from a boat and pitched as an accessible starting point for the technique. The 180g weight suits deep marks or a strong tide where a lighter jig cannot hold bottom or stay in the strike zone.

How to work it

Send it to the bottom or marked depth, then work it on an easy one-pitch jerk and let it flutter back down on a semi-slack line. Most strikes come as it falls, so watch the line and set on any change in weight or a subtle tap.

The setup it likes

A tachiuo jigging rod suited to 150-200g jigs, an overhead or spinning reel loaded with PE2-3 braid and a 30-40lb fluorocarbon leader matches this weight well.

Straight answers

How is it priced?

We give you the cheapest available price, as we get it directly from the distributors. You pay what an angler in Japan pays, plus postage.

When does my order leave Japan?

Orders are packed in Japan and handed to Japan Post within 3 to 8 business days. You get a tracking number by email the moment it ships.

How long does delivery take?

Australia and the US: 7 to 14 business days on Standard or Economy, 2 to 7 on Express EMS. Europe and the UK: 10 to 20 business days, 3 to 7 on EMS. Every option is priced at checkout before you pay.

Will I be charged import duty or tax?

Australia: no duty on orders under A$1,000 and GST is already in the price. US: orders under US$800 clear duty-free. EU and UK: VAT is collected at checkout so nothing is due on delivery for standard orders.

Is it genuine stock?

Yes. Every item is genuine, sourced only through authorised distributors — never grey imports or marketplace resellers.
