Information

The swimming action

The Chappy 100 runs a dog-walk action on the surface, rigged with #3 trebles on #3 split rings and sitting between the compact Chappy 80 and the larger 160 in ima's Chappy series, giving a mid-sized topwater profile at 100mm and 18g.

When to throw it

Built for seabass, it suits harbours, tidal flats, river mouths, rivers and rocky shorelines, giving a mid-sized topwater option when neither the small 80 nor the large 160 profile is quite right.

How to work it

Twitch it in a steady dog-walk cadence, adjusting the tempo between a quick, tight walk and a slower, wider sweep depending on how fish respond, and pausing briefly between series of twitches to let the disturbance settle.

The setup it likes

A 7 to 8 foot ML seabass spinning rod suits the Chappy 100's 18g body, matched with a 3000 size reel, 10 to 14lb braid and a 16 to 20lb fluorocarbon leader.
