A heavier swim jig built around a 5/0 hook, designed to cover a full range of depths in a single retrieve rather than staying in one column. A steady swimming presentation like this gives bass a moving target to track and commit to, rather than the stop-start rhythm of a bottom-hopping jig.

When to throw it

Suited to covering deep flats and structure quickly, letting the jig be worked from deep to shallow across the length of a single cast. Swim jigs earn their keep whenever bass are feeding actively and willing to chase, particularly around the edges of grass, wood and rock where a snag-resistant retrieve pays off.

How to work it

Fish with a steady swimming retrieve, starting deep and gradually raising the rod tip to bring the jig up through the water column across the retrieve.
