Description

Gulp! Saltwater Minnow 2inch is a 2-inch baitfish-imitation soft plastic with a flat body and horizontal tail, built around Berkley's latest Gulp! scent formula. Developed after more than 100 hours of testing, the softer, more supple material improves hook penetration and hook-holding, while the resealable double-zip pack keeps the scent liquid from leaking.

Supplied 15 pieces per pack, the Minnow 2 suits light rigs and bait-finesse presentations, working well on a straight retrieve or rigged on a dart-style jig head.

Information

The swimming action

A flat body with a horizontal tail gives a subtle baitfish silhouette rather than an active kicking action, relying on the retrieve and any jig head movement to bring it to life. The softer, supple Gulp! material aids hook penetration and holding.

When to throw it

Suited to light rigs and bait-finesse presentations for small saltwater species, working well wherever a compact, natural baitfish profile is needed in clear to lightly stained water, from harbour lights at night to shallow flats and jetties during the day.

How to work it

Works on a straight retrieve or rigged on a dart-style jig head worked with a slow twitch-and-pause, keeping the retrieve gentle to match the finesse-sized profile and pausing often so fish following at close range have time to commit to the bait.

The setup it likes

A light spinning outfit around 6'0"-7'0" in L to ML power suits this size of bait, matched to a 2000-2500 spinning reel loaded with 3-6 lb fluorocarbon or PE 0.3-0.6 braid as the main line, finished with a 4-8 lb fluorocarbon leader for aji and mebaru-class light game work.
