Description

The Berkley PowerBait® Chop Block is a soft glide bait with a tall, broad profile designed to mirror multiple forage bases and stop bass in their tracks. It runs on a stinger-hook system for a secure hookset and a slow-sinking fall that lets it settle naturally through the water column.

It is built for a wide range of retrieves, from a slow, wide gliding action to a fast, tight chopping motion, so anglers can adapt the retrieve to conditions. The maker offers Chop Block in 6in, 8in and 10in sizes; this listing stocks the 6in size.

This listing stocks Matte Shellcracker, Crappie, MF Bluegill, Raw and Hitch colours.

Information

The swimming action

The Chop Block is a soft glide bait with a tall, broad profile designed to mirror multiple forage bases. It runs on a stinger-hook system for a secure hookset and falls slowly and naturally through the water column between glides.

When to throw it

Suited to bass keyed on a large, broad-bodied forage profile such as bluegill or shad, in open water, along drop-offs or over cover where a big, slow-moving bait can be worked without hanging up.

How to work it

Built for a wide range of retrieves, from a slow, wide gliding cadence to a fast, tight chopping motion, letting the retrieve be adapted to conditions and fish mood. Pause on the slow fall to trigger a following bite.

The setup it likes

A heavy-power glide-bait casting rod, a low-profile baitcaster geared around 6:1-7:1, and 15-20lb fluorocarbon or 40-50lb braid with a fluorocarbon leader suit this bait's size and the fish it is designed to draw.
