Description

The Rapala Original Floater F11 is an 11cm, 6g balsa floating minnow that runs 1.2-1.8m deep, fitted with three No.6 hooks. First made by Lauri Rapala in 1936, the balsa body gives a soft landing on the water and a lively, sharp-breaking action that mimics an injured baitfish.

As the largest of the classic Original Floater range covered here, the F11 is built for casting further into open water while keeping the same time-proven floating minnow action that has made the series a world bestseller.

Information

The swimming action

The Original Floater's natural balsa body gives a soft landing on the cast and a sharp, lively wobbling action on the retrieve that imitates an injured baitfish, staying convincing even at a slow pace.

When to throw it

Suited to bigger stream and lake trout working open water, where the extra casting distance of this larger Original Floater size lets you cover more water while keeping the same time-proven floating minnow action.

How to work it

Fish it on a steady straight retrieve, or add occasional twitches and a stop-and-go cadence to trigger a following trout; keep the pace unhurried so the wobble stays tight and visible.

The setup it likes

A 6'6"-7' ML trout spinning rod, 2000-2500 size reel, 6-8 lb line and a light fluorocarbon leader suit these larger sizes.
