Sizing

Same 110.5 mm / 14 g body as the original ONETEN but with a longer bill for roughly 1.8 m running depth. Three #6 trebles, centre hook barbless from the factory on JP stock.

Information

The swimming action

The dual-tungsten Multi-Way Moving Balancer shifts weight through the cast and the retrieve, giving long-distance casting and an instant, wide darting action on the first twitch. Compared with the standard ONETEN, the deeper bill absorbs more water pressure without deadening the snap, so the bait still kicks hard side to side while running noticeably deeper in the column.

When to throw it

Best when bass are holding a little deeper than a standard jerkbait reaches comfortably — post-frontal clear water, deeper points, ledges and bluff walls in cold or transitional periods when fish want a suspending bait held in the strike zone rather than a fast-moving crank.

How to work it

Work it with sharp rod-tip snaps on slack line, pausing to let the suspending balance hang in front of the fish; vary the pause length until you find what the mood calls for, and expect most bites to come on the hang rather than the twitch.

The setup it likes

A 6'10"-7' medium-action jerkbait rod with a soft tip and firm backbone suits it well, paired with a 6.3:1-7.1:1 reel and 10-12lb fluorocarbon; fluorocarbon's low stretch and near-neutral buoyancy help keep the suspending action true.
