Description

The Jigpara Short 20g is a compact, centre-balanced metal jig from Major Craft's long-running Jigpara line, built for light shore jigging. Its short, slightly asymmetrical silhouette keeps air resistance low for long casts, while a multi-layer coating adds durability, and Major Craft's own front and rear hooks are fitted for a reliable hook-up.

Equally at home on a fast hi-pitch retrieve or a slower jerk, this 20g size suits light shore jigging tackle. It's available in a wide range of colourways, from natural baitfish patterns through to glow and live-bait finishes.

Information

The swimming action

A compact, centre-balanced metal jig with a short, slightly asymmetrical silhouette that keeps air resistance low for long casts. It responds evenly across a fast hi-pitch retrieve or a slower jerk, giving a lively, easy-to-control action at any weight in the range.

When to throw it

Built for shore jigging, from light tackle on the 20g and 30g sizes through to medium and medium-heavy shore jigging on the 40g to 60g sizes. Effective wherever seabass, kingfish and other pelagic and bottom species are within casting range of the shore.

How to work it

Cast as far as possible, let it sink to the target depth, then work it with a fast hi-pitch jerk for reaction bites or a slower rhythmic jerk-and-fall when fish are less active. The multi-layer coating and Major Craft's own hooks stand up to repeated casting near structure.

The setup it likes

Pair the lighter 20-30g sizes with a light shore jigging rod, 3000-4000 reel, PE 0.8-1.2 braid and 16-20 lb leader; step up to a medium rod, 4000-5000 reel, PE 1.2-2.0 braid and 20-30 lb leader for the 40-60g sizes.
