Description

Fine Tail Eden is Major Craft's compact stream-trout minnow, built around a flat-shaped body that moves from sharp lateral hits to slow, short darts. A low-slung fixed weight stabilises flight for long casts, and the lure sinks tail-first to cut down on line tangles on the cast.

This is the EDN-50S — 50mm, sinking — model, finished with a Japan-made original hook and a fluorine coat.

Information

The swimming action

The Fine Tail Eden's flat-shaped body gives a tight, sharp lateral roll on a fast retrieve that eases into slow, short darts as the retrieve is slowed. The fixed low-slung weight keeps it stable in flight and lets it sink tail-first, cutting down tangles on the cast.

When to throw it

Built for stream and small-river trout fishing for yamame, char and other native trout. Effective in clear, low-flow pools and runs where a compact, natural-swimming minnow profile out-fishes larger lures, particularly through the cooler months when trout sit tight to cover.

How to work it

Cast upstream or across and work it back with a steady retrieve for the lateral roll, or add gentle twitches to trigger the slower darting action. Being a sinking model, count it down to the target depth before starting the retrieve in deeper pools.

The setup it likes

Suits a light native-trout rod around UL to L power, paired with a small 1000-2000 spinning reel, 2-4 lb (PE 0.2-0.3) line and a light 2-4 lb fluorocarbon leader for delicate presentation in clear water.
