Description

The NAKATA JIG is a bass rubber jig developed with professional angler Hiroki Nakata around the concept of "action-inducing weight". Its flat head resists tipping over and is moulded from high-purity tungsten resin for extra bottom sensitivity, while the line-eye and hook positioning let the jig stand upright under tension. Shaking the rod lifts the trailer off the head's pivot point so it moves freely.

This listing is the 3/8oz size.

Information

The swimming action

The Nakata Jig's flat, tungsten-resin head sits upright on the bottom under tension, and shaking the rod lifts the trailer clear of the head's pivot point so it kicks and flutters on its own rather than the whole jig tipping over.

When to throw it

Use it wherever bass hold tight to bottom structure such as rock, timber and channel edges, particularly through the cooler months and any time fish are feeding close to bottom rather than up in the water column.

How to work it

Work it with a slow drag-and-shake along the bottom, pausing over likely cover to let the trailer breathe; short hops also draw reaction bites when fish are inactive or pressured.

The setup it likes

Pairs well with a medium-heavy casting rod, a baitcast reel around 7:1, 14-16 lb fluorocarbon and a soft plastic trailer matched to the jig's size.
