Information

The swimming action

A baitfish-profile soft-plastic with a softer internal-foil build and an ultra-thin body, designed to move naturally while still throwing a strong flash. The trailer's action complements a tairaba head's skirt without overpowering it, keeping the whole rig looking natural as it falls.

When to throw it

Built for flashing tai-rubber presentations when sea bream are feeding on small forage such as shirasu or sand eel. Typically fished over reef and structure in around 30-100 m of water where red sea bream hold through the day.

How to work it

Rig behind a tairaba head and work with a steady lift-and-fall retrieve to keep the thin body moving and flashing on the drop. Keep the retrieve smooth and avoid jerking the rod, since tairaba fish are worked on a steady lift rather than a twitch.

The setup it likes

6'6 inch-7'0 inch tairaba rod rated to 100-150 g, baitcasting or spinning reel, PE1-1.5 braid, 4-6 lb fluorocarbon leader. The soft tip loads up on a bite and helps prevent pulled hooks during the long, steady fight typical of tairaba fishing.
