Description

The Eclipse x ima Sasuke140 Reppa SSP is a limited-run Eclipse colourway of ima's well-known Sasuke hull, tuned with Eclipse's own semi-suspend (SSP) set-up. It measures 140mm and weighs 21.5g, built around a #4 split ring and an SP-MH#3 treble hook.

The semi-suspend tune sits the lure in the range between slow floating and slow sinking, so it holds its depth through the pause after a twitch or jerk, hanging like a dying baitfish, and it also tracks well on a slow, drifted retrieve in the way a sinking pencil does.

Information

The swimming action

Tuned to Eclipse's own semi-suspend (SSP) set-up on ima's well-known Sasuke hull, it sits between slow floating and slow sinking, holding depth through the pause after a twitch or jerk so it hangs like a dying baitfish rather than rising or dropping away.

When to throw it

It also tracks well on a slow, drifted retrieve in the way a sinking pencil does, making it useful across current seams, river mouths and structure where seabass expect an easy, injured baitfish rather than a lure fighting the flow.

How to work it

Twitch or jerk it and then pause deliberately, letting the semi-suspend tune hold it in place; alternatively let it drift slowly with the current for a more passive, sinking-pencil-style presentation. Vary pause length through a session to find what the fish want on the day, and don't be afraid to let it sit motionless for several seconds when working a known holding spot.

The setup it likes

A medium-power seabass spinning rod, a 2500-3000 reel, PE0.8-1 braid and a 12-16 lb fluorocarbon leader suit both the 120mm and 140mm Sasuke Reppa SSP. A rod with a soft enough tip to twitch the lure without dragging it off its suspend depth helps keep the semi-suspend action working as intended.
