Description

The Pico Pico Eagleplayer MS is Daysprout's ultimate feeding-style micro minnow: a 23mm, 1.1g lure designed to be shown off on the reel and drifted on the fall. Retrieved, it sways side to side like drifting algae; on the pause it settles with an MS (medium-slow) sinking fall that mimics a sinking pellet.

The hook eye position is deliberately offset from centre rather than dead-centre, a design choice Daysprout says improves initial hook-up and reduces fouling around the hooks. It is part of the Pico Pico Eagleplayer family within Daysprout's native/area lure line-up.

Information

The swimming action

An ultimate feeding-style micro minnow designed to be shown off on the reel and drifted on the fall: swaying side to side like drifting algae on the retrieve, then settling with a medium-slow sinking fall that mimics a sinking pellet.

When to throw it

Suited to pressured stocked trout that are keying on natural drift and pellet-fall behaviour rather than chasing a swimming lure. It fits comfortably into a rotation alongside other area-trout lures across a normal pond session, from the first cast after stocking through to fish that have settled and grown more selective.

How to work it

Retrieve gently to show the side-to-side sway, then pause and let it sink on the fall to mimic a drifting pellet; the offset hook-eye position is designed to improve initial hook-up and reduce fouling. Match the retrieve to water clarity and light — slower and subtler in bright, clear conditions, a touch faster and more animated when the pond is coloured or overcast.

The setup it likes

Pair with a light area-trout rod around 5-6ft, a 1000-2000 reel, and 2-3lb fluorocarbon or nylon main line suited to a sub-1.5g minnow. Round drag settings off soft, since stocked trout are typically lightly hooked in the mouth and a hard drag setting risks pulling small hooks free during the fight.
