Daysprout Pico Eagleplayer F G2

A bite-sized micro minnow in a floating set-up, holding its swimming range even on a fast retrieve while working the fuzzy zone where half-sunk fish sit. The action stays readable through the rod tip at typical area-pond retrieve speeds, which helps when picking a pace that keeps the lure hunting rather than tracking flat.

Aimed at trout that have gone quiet, giving a small, low-key profile that can still produce an enticing wobble on a slow retrieve when a larger lure is being refused. It fits comfortably into a rotation alongside other area-trout lures across a normal pond session, from the first cast after stocking through to fish that have settled and grown more selective.

Retrieve fast to hold depth and search, or slow right down for the wobble to draw a bite from fish with lowered activity — both speeds keep the bait working. Match the retrieve to water clarity and light — slower and subtler in bright, clear conditions, a touch faster and more animated when the pond is coloured or overcast.

Pair with a light area-trout rod around 5-6ft, a 1000-2000 reel, and 2-3lb fluorocarbon or nylon main line suited to a sub-2g minnow. Round drag settings off soft, since stocked trout are typically lightly hooked in the mouth and a hard drag setting risks pulling small hooks free during the fight.
