Description

Buddy Works HENCHMAN is a winding-retrieve casting jig with an asymmetric upper/lower body shape for fine-pitch swimming action. A short, tail-thick, slim-profile body keeps bulk low, and the rear-weighted design delivers long casting distance while resisting blow-out on a fast retrieve. Aimed at inada (young yellowtail), sagoshi (young Spanish mackerel), hamachi (yellowtail) and katsuo (skipjack tuna/bonito).

HENCHMAN 42g measures 59mm. This listing stocks the ZOK (Zebra Orekin / zebra orange-gold), BLK (Silhouette Black / silhouette black), FGL (Flash Glow / flash glow), RSG (real black-back), MML (matte melon / matte melon), MOR (Matte Orange / matte orange) and MLM (matte lemon / matte lemon) colourways.

Information

The swimming action

HENCHMAN uses an asymmetric upper and lower body profile to produce a tight, fine-pitch swimming action on a fast wind, and the rear-weighted design keeps it tracking straight without blowing out or rolling over even at high retrieve speeds.

When to throw it

Aimed at inada, sagoshi, hamachi and katsuo feeding on bait schools within casting range of jetties, breakwaters and open shoreline. Best when fish are actively feeding on the surface or upper water column and a fast-moving profile is needed to trigger a reaction strike.

How to work it

Cast and wind back at a fast, steady pace to keep the jig tracking tight and true; a straight fast retrieve is the main technique this bait is built for, with occasional speed changes to trigger followers into striking.

The setup it likes

Suits a 9–10'6" MH–H shore casting rod, a 4000–5000 size spinning reel, PE 1.5–2.5 braid and a 30–40 lb fluorocarbon or nylon leader to handle fast-swimming pelagic species. The 42g model suits casting distance and current strength matched to its weight.
