Description

Xesta presents the After Burner as a renewed shore-casting jig, using a body intended to remain settled in flight even when conditions are difficult.

Its official action notes combine orderly darts from a one-pitch jerk with an irregular instant in the fall, followed by wobble-and-roll that helps trace the selected range on a steady retrieve.

Information

The swimming action

A one-pitch jerk produces sharp, regular darts, with an irregular beat added during the fall to trigger a reaction strike. On a straight retrieve the head shape helps hold the chosen depth range while the body wobbles and rolls.

When to throw it

A shore-casting metal jig for open coastline, rock marks and breakwaters where casting distance matters, aimed at general inshore predators and pelagics working bait schools within casting range.

How to work it

Work it with rhythmic one-pitch jerks through the water column, letting the jig fall on a controlled semi-slack line between jerks — most strikes come on the fall or as the retrieve begins again. A straight, steady retrieve alone will also draw out the wobble-and-roll action.

The setup it likes

Suits a shore-jigging rod rated to about 30–40g, a 4000 size spinning reel, PE1.5–2 line and a 25–35lb fluorocarbon leader.
