Information

The swimming action

The minimaru Evology uses a solid urethane body to blend a sharp, wide dart with a slower, natural fall, and the transition between the two is where BREADEN says the action really lives. The Deep, Normal and Shallow builds share this movement, tuned by lip depth so each one covers a different band of the water column.

When to throw it

Suited to light saltwater fishing over structure, drop-offs and current edges where a compact, natural-looking hard bait draws attention without spooking wary fish. Choose the Deep build for deeper water and slower current, the Shallow for skinny water and surface structure, and the Normal build as the all-round option in between.

How to work it

Fish it with sharp twitches followed by a pause, letting the body dart and then fall on a semi-slack line, since most strikes come as the lure settles. A slow, steady retrieve also works when fish are holding tight and unwilling to chase a fast-moving bait.

The setup it likes

A light spinning outfit suits this lure well — around a 6'6"–7'0" L–ML rod, a 2000–2500 size reel and 4–6 lb line or PE 0.4–0.6, with a short fluorocarbon leader of similar breaking strain to keep the small bait's action untouched.
