The swimming action

The Punch Line is a sinking pencil built around a flat-faced head that gives constant contact through the retrieve, tracing a gentle S-curve slalom with a rolling fall on the pause, letting anglers read water flow and current changes through the rod.

When to throw it

It covers harbours, shallow ground, surf and rocky shorelines, working water 3m deep or less, and suits situations from bait-fish schools and worm hatches (bachi) up to open surf and river-mouth seabass. These are common enough conditions that it is worth keeping one tied on rather than treating it as a rare specialist choice for unusual days.

How to work it

Work it with a straight retrieve, a drift, or a slack-line fall depending on conditions; the rolling, horizontal fall on the pause gives fish a long look in slack current, and the flat head lets you feel changes in flow through the rod.

The setup it likes

A 7.5-9ft seabass or surf spinning rod scaled to the lure's weight, a 2500-4000 reel, 10-16lb braid and a fluorocarbon leader of 14-20lb suit the range from the smallest to the largest model. Matching tackle in this range keeps the outfit comfortable to fish all session while still giving enough authority to control a fish once it is hooked.

Will I be charged import duty or tax?

Australia: no duty on orders under A$1,000 and GST is already in the price. US: orders under US$800 clear duty-free. EU and UK: VAT is collected at checkout so nothing is due on delivery for standard orders.
