AION（アイオン）is Abu Garcia's nano-carbon area-trout rod series, built for light weight, high sensitivity, "neba" (tackiness) that keeps fish pinned on subtle bites, and strong torque. The lineup covers solid-tip models tuned for automatic hook-setting on the retrieve, tubular-tip models for direct control of cranks, minnows and bottom lures, and bait-finesse models for aggressive minnow jerking.

This listing covers the AINS-602ULS+, a solid-tip model built to auto-hook subtle bites on the retrieve; the AINS-612UL, an all-round tubular-tip rod for micro spoons through minnows and cranks; the AINC-562UL, a bait-finesse model for spoons, minnows and topwater plugs on a bait-finesse-specific reel; and the AINC-602L, a longer 6-foot bait-finesse model built for longer casts with heavier spoons, minnows and topwater plugs. All use nano-carbon blanks, a spigot-joint construction with printed guide-set marks at each joint for easy multi-piece assembly, a lightweight cork grip and reel seat usable even in cold weather, and Fuji KR guides to reduce line flutter and support solid hook-sets.

Nano-carbon blanks keep the rod light and highly sensitive while adding torque and a tacky ('neba') feel through the blank that helps keep light-biting trout pinned on the hook rather than shaking free during a prolonged, thrashing fight close to the net.

How it fishes

Work micro spoons, minnows and cranks with a slow, steady wind and occasional pauses to draw a reaction bite; the bait-finesse models are built for more aggressive minnow jerking when trout are keyed onto a faster-moving target. Small changes in cadence often make the difference between a follow and a committed strike from a cautious fish.

The setup it likes
