Mass Beat Ⅳ（マスビート4）is a full renewal of Abu Garcia's long-running area-trout "Mass Beat" series, built to be easy to use for first-time anglers at commercial put-and-take fisheries as well as experienced anglers, and well suited to the pool-trout fishing that has been growing in popularity.

The range pairs tip design to technique: solid-tip models are built to hook delicate bites automatically without pulling the lure away from the fish, while tubular-tip models handle a wider range of lures with easy lure action and good bite sensitivity. This listing covers the MBES-482XULS (an all-around model sized for pool trout and younger anglers, easy with spoons and crankbaits), MBES-612XUL (a technical model for micro spoons and micro cranks under 1g), MBES-632ULS (an all-around solid-tip model for the area-trout staples of spoons, cranks and minnows), MBES-632UL (a tubular-tip model for longer casts with spoons, crankbaits and minnows), and MBES-602LS (a solid-tip model built for active fishing with crankbaits, minnows and vibration lures). All models use a spigot joint for smoother blank bending and a cork grip shaped to sit comfortably in the palm, and come with a warranty.

Retrieve style follows the tip type: let solid-tip models load and set on their own during a slow, steady wind, and work tubular-tip models with more active twitches and pauses to draw a reaction bite from a following fish. Adjust the exact retrieve speed and pause length to match water temperature and how actively fish are feeding on the day.

The setup it likes

Pair with a small 1000-2000 spinning reel, 2-4lb fluorocarbon or nylon line and a short, fine leader if fishing clear pond water where trout can be easily spooked by heavier line. Fine-tune line and leader strength up or down slightly to suit local conditions and the average size of fish encountered.
