Information

The swimming action

The Pepino SR holds the same slim, curved profile as the rest of the family and keeps a stable wobble even on an ultra dead-slow retrieve. Careful balancing of the eye position and body weight lets it run shallow, to roughly 0.8 m, without rolling out or losing its swimming posture.

When to throw it

The SR is the top-water option in the range, suited to picking off wary trout in heavily pressured urban and tournament fisheries. Use it early or late in the day, or whenever fish are holding shallow and a subtler presentation than a popper or spoon is needed.

How to work it

A straight, ultra dead-slow retrieve is the SR's strength, and it keeps swimming properly even at a crawl thanks to its balanced eye and body weight. Speed it up slightly to cover more water when searching, but its main job is fooling fish that have seen faster baits.

The setup it likes

Pair with a light area-trout spinning rod (UL–L power), a 1000–2000 size reel, 2–3 lb main line and a fluorocarbon leader of similar or slightly lighter breaking strain — enough tip softness to load properly on the cast and the take.
