Shimano Exsence Silent Assassin 129F

Silent, stable, and built to reach fish other lures can't

JET BOOST internal weight-transfer system pushes casts out to roughly 65-70m even for average anglers
No internal rattle, so the silent body doesn't spook line-shy fish in clear or heavily-pressured water
Tight wobble-roll swims cleanly on a straight retrieve down to 0.8m, covering the mid-depth column other minnows miss

Information

The swimming action

On a constant retrieve the 129F holds a tight, controlled wobble-roll rather than a wide thrash, tracking straight and true thanks to the JET BOOST weight settling centrally the instant it lands. With no rattle, all the fish-attracting signal comes from clean vibration and flash, which keeps the action believable at both high and low retrieve speeds.

When to throw it

A genuine pilot lure for river mouths, harbour walls, open surf and rocky shore marks where you need to reach fish sitting well off the bank, built for long-range work rather than close-quarters flicking. It earns its place across the seasons, particularly the warmer months and the early autumn run when seabass feed in open water and distance to the shoal matters.

How to work it

A straight, unhurried constant retrieve is the default and usually the most productive; resist the urge to work it hard, the lure's own roll does the attracting. Vary retrieve speed methodically to find what the fish want, and add sharp jerks or long sweeping pulls to trigger a following fish that hasn't committed.

The setup it likes

Suits a 9.6-10.6ft seabass rod with enough backbone to punch a 22g lure the full distance, paired with a 3000-4000 size reel. PE 1.0-1.5 braid with a 20-25lb fluorocarbon leader balances castability with abrasion resistance around rock and harbour structure.

Fun facts about this lure

JET BOOST works via a tungsten weight riding a through-shaft on a spring: it snaps back under casting load for bullet flight, then springs forward on splashdown so the lure swims true with zero start-up lag

JET BOOST is Shimano's evolution of the earlier AR-C moving-weight system, refined to remove the swim delay older weight-transfer lures suffered after landing

Silent Assassin deliberately ditches the rattle ball used in many seabass minnows — a quiet, natural-sounding lure draws more confident bites from wary estuary seabass
