Description

The GRANDEVO Version-R is Gokuspe's revived "monster hunting" boat rod series: a 6:4-action, full-thread-wrapped glass-solid blank paired with a proprietary guide setup built to control extra-large fish while staying responsive in hand.

Target fish: large bottom-dwelling species, with the maker naming grouper and tuna as example targets for the powerful pulls this blank is built to absorb.

This listing stocks the two 185cm one-piece variants: 185-300 (150-350go weight capacity, 701g) and 185-400 (200-450go weight capacity, 710g).

Information

The blank

The glass-solid blank loads smoothly from tip to butt under sustained pressure, storing energy through a parabolic curve rather than a stiff, fast taper. This cushions violent headshakes from bottom-dwelling fish without transmitting shock to the angler's arms, while the full thread wrap and reinforced guide train keep the blank tracking true under sideways load.

What it's built for

Built for deep-water boat fishing over structure holding large bottom fish such as grouper, together with heavier pelagic species like tuna that test tackle on the drift. It suits offshore sessions where the target is size rather than numbers, on grounds known for grouper and tuna.

How it fishes

Fish it on the drift or at anchor with baited rigs or jigs, letting the parabolic bend absorb the first run before applying steady lifting pressure. Pump-and-wind beats fast cranking; the glass blank rewards patience over an aggressive hookset, which can pull hooks from soft-mouthed bottom species.

The setup it likes

Pair with a lever-drag or high-torque overhead reel loaded with PE8–PE20 braid and a heavy fluorocarbon or wire leader, matched to whichever weight-class variant (185-300 or 185-400) is chosen.
