The tungsten core sits low in the head for a stable fall posture and fast sink rate, and the original head shape reduces retrieve resistance so subtle bites aren't missed. Its compact silhouette suits high-pressure conditions.

The swimming action

A tungsten-core tairaba head, sold on its own, with the dense core sitting low for a stable fall posture and a fast sink rate. The head shape is designed to cut resistance on the retrieve so subtle bites transmit through to the rod tip rather than being missed.

When to throw it

Built for tai-rubber (tairaba) fishing for madai (red sea bream), especially in current or depth where a fast-sinking, compact head is needed to stay in contact with the bottom under high fishing pressure.

How to work it

Drop to the bottom and work it with a steady, slow wind at a constant speed, keeping contact through the fall as well as the retrieve since tairaba bites often come as the head settles. Pair with your choice of skirt and hooks, sold separately.

Matches a tairaba-specific boat rod (soft, parabolic tip), a small baitcast or spinning reel, PE 0.8-1.5 braid and a 4-6 fluorocarbon leader.
