Description

The Jackall Big Backer Jig/Slide Stick 60g is a 107 mm slim-body metal jig from Jackall's BIGBACKER JIG SLIDE STICK line, built for slide-and-fall action rather than long-range casting. A sharp, trick slide on the jerk followed by a horizontal seesaw fall generates strong flash and vibration, and the jig comes with a front twin hook fitted as standard.

Its slimmer, longer profile cuts through current well and keeps working the surface zone without blowing out on a fast retrieve, which makes it effective when fish are feeding on the surface. Jackall recommends a one-pitch jerk on slack line for pelagics such as sagoshi and hamachi, and a slow lift-and-fall for flatfish, rockfish, red sea bream and tachiuo. Available in six colourways.

Where the standard Big Backer Jig is built around flight distance, the Slide Stick is built around the fall: a sharp, trick slide on the jerk and a horizontal seesaw fall on the drop generate extra flash and vibration to draw strikes.

When to throw it

Shore casting for pelagic species when fish are keying on a falling, flashing target rather than a straight, fast retrieve, as well as bottom species like flatfish and red sea bream.

How to work it

Work it with a one-pitch jerk on slack line for pelagics such as sagoshi and hamachi, or slow it down to a lift-and-fall for flatfish, rockfish, red sea bream and tachiuo.

The setup it likes

Suits a shore-jigging rod around M power, a 3000-4000 reel, PE1-1.5 or 12-16 lb main line, and a fluorocarbon leader of similar strength, enough backbone to work the jig's slide-and-fall action properly.
