Description

At 160g, the Anchovy Metal TYPE-I steps up to deeper tachiuo (largehead hairtail) grounds and stronger tidal flow while keeping the same tail-weighted design as the smaller sizes. The rear-weighted body suppresses amplitude on the fall, sending the jig straight down to the strike zone instead of swinging out on the drop.

It suits a one-pitch short jerk retrieve for covering a wide band of water at a brisk tempo, and its quick, tight fall triggers reaction bites from fish keyed onto falling bait. A large weight-marked eye sticker keeps this size easy to identify at a glance against the rest of the range.

Information

The swimming action

A tail-weighted metal jig with a rear centre of gravity that keeps the fall low-amplitude and fast, punching straight down to the target depth rather than swinging out on the drop.

When to throw it

Built for tachiuo (largehead hairtail) jigging in open water, and works across the whole depth range the Anchovy Metal series covers by swapping weights to match current and depth.

How to work it

Fish it on a one-pitch short jerk retrieve to cover a wide band of the water column at a steady tempo, or lean on the fast, straight fall alone for reaction bites when fish are chasing falling bait.

The setup it likes

Suits a boat jigging rod matched to the jig weight, a compact spinning or overhead reel loaded with PE1.5-3 braid, and a fluorocarbon leader of roughly 20-40 lb depending on jig weight and target size.

Straight answers

How is it priced?

We give you the cheapest available price, as we get it directly from the distributors. You pay what an angler in Japan pays, plus postage.
