Description

Flash-J Split Abalone 3"/4" Feco (Flash-J Split Abalone 3"/4" Feco) is Fish Arrow's full hover-strolling tune of the Flash-J Split. Removing the aluminium foil that's the signature of the Flash-J series creates a hollow body for buoyancy the series hadn't reached before, and a softer material makes the body noticeably softer with excellent hook-ups.

The natural shimmer of abalone powder is aimed at pressured bass that shy away from the intense flash of glitter or aluminium foil. Offered in 3" and 4" sizes to match the hatch, built to handle hover-strolling across a range of situations.

The range is offered in six colourways: Shirauo/Abalone, Sight Chart/Abalone, Sight Pink/Abalone, Live Ayu/Abalone, Lake Wakasagi/Abalone and Reservoir Shad/Abalone. This listing stocks the 3" size (packs of 6), a single colourway.

Target species: bass.

Information

The swimming action

Removing the aluminium foil that defines the standard Flash-J increases buoyancy and softens the body, trading flash for a natural abalone shimmer that suits pressured bass wary of glitter or foil. A split tail adds extra kick to the hollow, softer body.

When to throw it

For pressured bass that have seen standard flash baits and shy away from intense glitter or foil. It suits the same cover-fishing and reservoir bank situations that UK and European bass anglers already use similar-sized baits for.

How to work it

Fish it slowly on a hover-strolling presentation, letting the soft, buoyant body hang and drift rather than working it aggressively. Keep light contact with the rod tip through the retrieve so you can feel takes without pulling the bait off its intended track.

The setup it likes

6'6 inch-7'0 inch ML-M spinning rod, 2500-3000 reel, 6-10 lb fluorocarbon. This gives enough backbone to drive trebles or a single hook home on the strike while staying light enough to cast the bait accurately all day.
