Information

The swimming action

The smallest saltwater Flash-J shad-tail, made for light-game fishing; the tail continues to catch water and move during both swimming retrieves and the fall. Its small profile and light-game action suit the fine lines and small hooks typical of aji and mebaru sessions after dark.

When to throw it

Aimed at mebaru and aji, particularly around structure and lit water where a small, active-tailed bait draws attention. Most productive around lit areas, breakwaters and harbour structure after dark, when aji and mebaru move up in the water to feed.

How to work it

Fish it on a light jig head with a slow swim or gentle lift-and-drop, since the tail keeps working even on the fall. Keep a taut, slack-free line so you can feel the subtle taps that light-game species give before fully committing to the bait.

The setup it likes

7'6 inch-8'6 inch light-game spinning rod, 1500-2000 reel, 3-5 lb PE, 4-6 lb fluorocarbon leader. A soft, sensitive tip helps detect light-game bites while the light line and leader keep the small bait casting properly on light tackle.
