Information

The swimming action

A saltwater soft-plastic combining Flash-J's foil flash with a thick, strongly pulsing tail, aimed at kijihata (also called akou) using tail movement and flash for a strong presentation. The action holds up across the colour range on offer, so the presentation stays consistent regardless of which pattern you choose.

When to throw it

For kijihata and other rockfish holding tight to structure and reef edges. Works from both boat and shore marks wherever the target species is holding tight to structure or reef edges.

How to work it

Fish it on a jig head with a slow lift-and-fall along structure, letting the tail's pulse work on the drop. Keep contact with the jig head through the retrieve so you can register bites without extra slack building in the line.

The setup it likes

7'0 inch-7'6 inch ML-M rockfish spinning rod, 2500-3000 reel, 6-10 lb PE, 12-16 lb fluorocarbon leader. This balances enough backbone for a solid hookset with enough softness in the tip to protect light hooks and leaders on the strike.
