Description

The Bow Worm 12 High Float is a 12 inch, 4-pack straight worm from Evergreen, designed by Toshifumi Kikumoto with a front-to-back reverse-rib body that grips and moves water. It bows and flexes on the fall, with a collapsing action and micro-vibration designed to draw big bass.

This High Float version uses a different, buoyant material for a Texas rig or rubber jig trailer that stands up dramatically off the bottom, and is also a strong match for eel-style rigs.

Information

The swimming action

The reverse-rib body — ribs running one way ahead of the beltline and the other way behind it — grips the water strongly on the fall, producing a bowing, flexing motion and fine micro-vibration. The High Float material adds buoyancy that the standard salt-loaded version does not have.

When to throw it

At full 12in length this is the largest Bow Worm size, and the High Float material is suited to Texas rig and rubber jig trailer work where a dramatic, upright stand-off-bottom presentation is wanted, including eel-style rig applications.

How to work it

Fish it Texas-rigged or as a jig trailer and let it settle; the buoyant tail stands up off the bottom rather than lying flat, giving a different look to the standard version on the pause. Most strikes come once the bait has settled and is standing up.

The setup it likes

A medium-heavy to heavy baitcasting rod with 14-20lb fluorocarbon or braid with a heavier leader suits this size and the larger bass it targets. Rig on a 4/0-5/0 offset worm hook, adjusting weight so the buoyant tail can stand up properly.
