Description

The Keel Vib 75 is a 75mm/19.5g vibration bait developed as the strong-wobble counterpart to Eclipse's Slight Edge line. A keel-weight system sets the weight low in the body, allowing it to run with a slow action while the keel itself acts like an aircraft's vertical tail on the cast, giving outstanding directional stability, distance and cast feel for its weight. The bonded solid body gives it strength and drawing power, while the clear-bodied construction leaves room for a wide range of colourways.

It's fitted with a Gamakatsu SP-MH #5 treble, so despite the compact 75mm body it can go toe-to-toe with a big fish without backing down. Rotating it with the micro-shimmy Slight Edge covers both extremes of vibration action, improving your odds of putting a lure in front of the fish.

Information

The swimming action

A keel-weight system sets the weight low in the body, giving outstanding directional stability and casting distance for the weight while producing a strong wobble that draws fish from a wide area, quite different from the micro-shimmy of the Slight Edge line.

When to throw it

The strong-wobble counterpart to Eclipse's Slight Edge range, it suits both wide-area searching for active seabass and downsized, light-tackle sessions for black seabream and kibire when a smaller, still-strong-wobbling bait is wanted. It also has a place as a change-up bait when seabass are following a subtler vibration lure without striking, since the stronger wobble can trigger a reaction a fine-shimmy bait can't.

How to work it

Fish it comfortably from medium through fast retrieves, including in shallow water; rotate it with a micro-shimmy bait like the Slight Edge to cover both extremes of vibration action across a session. Lean on the faster end when covering ground, and slow down over known holding structure where a strong wobble at close range can spook shy fish.

The setup it likes

A medium-power seabass spinning rod, a 2500-3000 reel, PE0.6-1 braid and a 10-16 lb fluorocarbon leader suit the Keel Vib across its 62-75mm size range. A rod with enough backbone to drive the sturdy treble home on a strike is worth prioritising, given the Keel Vib is often fished specifically because a bigger fish is a real possibility.
