A weight-transfer system throws the Guado 130S a long way with plenty of feel in flight, and its high-volume body then produces a strong, wide swimming action on the sink and retrieve that reads well to flounder even at distance or in low light.

Aimed at large-bait-feeding flounder and trophy-class fish rather than small ones, it suits open surf beaches and river mouths where big flatfish key on sizeable prey. It casts well into crosswinds and headwinds, so it stays useful across a range of surf and seasonal wind conditions.

Work it with a slow, steady retrieve through the stated 0.8-2.0m band, keeping it just off bottom, and slow right down over likely holding water since the wide action still reads at low speed. Its lip is shaped to shed light bottom snags in the shallows.

A 9-10ft surf spinning rod, a 4000 reel loaded with PE1-1.5 braid, and a 16-20 lb fluorocarbon leader suit the 130S's casting weight and give enough feel to work it through the depth range. Step up leader diameter if fishing around barnacle-covered groynes or mussel beds, since abrasion rather than the fish itself is the more likely cause of a lost trophy flounder on this scale of lure.
