SALTIGA (ソルティガ) is Daiwa's flagship offshore big-game reel line, built to chase record fish with Daiwa's toughest offshore engineering.

The 25 SALTIGA generation runs Daiwa's HYPERDRIVE DESIGN (HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR with a widened gear face, HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT, a full-aluminum HYPER ARMED HOUSING machine-cut from round stock, and HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH), with magnetically sealed ball bearings throughout.

The lineup spans the SALTIGA35 big-game two-speed lever drag conventional reel — rated to a 13kg max drag (UTD) with a large-diameter spool for deep water and big pelagics such as giant yellowfin, kanpachi and hiramasa — down to the compact SALTIGA 10/10-SJ nearshore jigging series, sized for all-day palming with an 11kg max drag on the standard gear ratio (9kg on the high-gear model) and the same gear size as the 15 series.

How it fishes

Shift the 35H's low gear for lifting power deep in a fight then high gear to gain line fast near the boat; work the 10-SJ series with standard vertical jigging strokes, using the 9kg drag on the high-gear model for faster jig recovery.

Spools and spares

Pair the 35H with a stand-up or trolling rod on 80-130lb mono or heavy braid; pair the 10/10-SJ with a jigging rod on PE3-5 and a heavy fluorocarbon leader.
