Description

Buddy Works OFF SPIN (OFF SPIN) is a 68mm flatfish metal jig built on its own dedicated body rather than being an OFF BAIT with a blade simply bolted on. Where OFF BAIT runs a centre balance, OFF SPIN shifts the weight slightly rearward (a 4:6 split) with a wider, thinner profile, so the body alone already carries a lively action.

The attached blade doubles as stabiliser and flash source: on a slow retrieve its resistance dominates, spinning to give an inviting flash, and as retrieve speed increases the body's wobble-roll takes over, syncing with the blade's side-to-side shimmer for an appeal-driven flash. Spec: original blade #2, front hook #8, rear hook #6, swivel #0. Aimed at flatfish - hirame and magochi.

This listing stocks the 40g size in PNK Pink Zebra, ZPK Zebra Pink Gold, ZML Zebra Melon and BLH Blue Hawaii.

Information

The swimming action

OFFSPIN pairs a purpose-built, rear-weighted body with an attached blade that doubles as stabiliser and flash source. On a slow retrieve the blade's resistance dominates and spins for an inviting flash; as speed increases the body's own wobble-roll takes over, syncing with the blade's shimmer. At 40g it holds that dual action through the retrieve.

When to throw it

Aimed squarely at flatfish, OFFSPIN suits sandy shorelines, current lines and drop-offs where hirame and magochi ambush baitfish. Its added flash makes it a good choice in coloured water or low light when extra visibility and vibration help fish locate the lure, and as a change bait when a plain jig has gone quiet.

How to work it

Start with a slow, steady retrieve to let the blade spin and flash, then vary the pace to bring in the body's wobble-roll for a combined presentation. Short pauses allow the jig to flutter and the blade to keep ticking over, which often triggers a following fish. Keep contact so takes are felt through the blade's vibration.

The setup it likes

A medium-power, fast-taper flatfish rod of around 9 feet suits the 40g OFFSPIN well. Use a 3000 to 4000 size spinning reel, PE1 to PE1.5 braided mainline, and a 20 to 25 lb fluorocarbon leader, which stands up to the extra drag the blade adds on the retrieve.
