Buddy Works OFFBAIT 35g

The OFFBAIT is a centre-balance metal jig that rises off a medium-slow retrieve with a wavering, sinking-pencil-like action. Rather than swimming aggressively, it drifts and wobbles like an unguarded, switched-off baitfish, opening a strike zone that only a centre-balanced jig reaches. At 35g it casts a useful distance while keeping that unhurried, believable roll through the retrieve.

Built for flat-game fishing from the shore or a low boat, the OFFBAIT suits sandy bottoms, current edges and drop-offs where hirame and magochi sit and wait. It covers ground quickly, making it a search bait for scouting a beach or flat before committing to a slower presentation. Use it whenever range and speed of coverage matter more than finesse.

Work the OFFBAIT on a medium-slow, steady retrieve so it holds its wavering rise without over-swimming. Short pauses let it settle and flutter down again, which often draws a following fish to commit. Avoid retrieving too fast, as the centre-balance action flattens out and loses the easy-prey look it is designed around.

A medium-power, fast-taper flatfish or shore-jigging rod around 9 to 10 feet suits the 35g OFFBAIT well. Pair it with a 3000 to 4000 size spinning reel, PE1 to PE1.5 braided mainline, and a 20 to 25 lb fluorocarbon leader to handle abrasion from sand and structure while casting comfortably from the beach.
