Description

Metal Shalldus 35g is the heaviest model in Blue Blue's rear-weighted blade-bait range, built with a compact metal solid body and a flashing blade for casting distance and a strong wave-action retrieve. At 70mm with a #5 hook, #3 split ring and #3.5 blade, this is the long-casting end of the range, tuned for a light winding comfort that stays easy on the retrieve.

Suited to light shore jigging for seabass, it is designed to be worked with a simple straight retrieve, reaching fish that will not follow a metal jig.

Information

The swimming action

Metal Shalldus is a rear-weighted blade bait with a compact metal solid body and a flashing blade that pulls hard and steady on the retrieve. The heavier weighting toward the tail keeps it tracking true at speed, and the blade's vibration comes through clearly on a tight line, even in wind or current.

When to throw it

Built for light shore jigging, Metal Shalldus suits open beaches, river mouths and harbour walls where seabass sit out of casting range of a soft lure. It reaches fish that will not follow a metal jig, and works through the water column on the retrieve back to the angler.

How to work it

Cast it as far as possible and work it back with a simple straight retrieve at a steady pace; there is no need for added rod action, as the blade supplies the wobble. Vary the retrieve speed slightly to find the pulling resistance that draws bites on the day.

The setup it likes

Suited to a light shore-jigging spinning rod around 8-9 foot, a 3000-4000 size reel, PE1-1.5 braid and a 16-20 lb fluorocarbon leader for casting the 35g size a long way.
