Description

The Blue Blue Leptis 130g is a semi-long metal jig built for light jigging anglers who'd rather target above-average sized fish than chase numbers. Its tail-heavy design gives a fast fall speed for a clear, easy-to-read bottom touch even in fast current, while a retrieve feel that's neither too heavy nor too light makes tide changes and bites easier to sense and reduces fatigue on long sessions.

Blue Blue developed the Leptis with Tokyo Bay beltfish (tachiuo) jigging in mind, aiming to help anglers select fewer, larger fish rather than working through a lot of smaller ones. This listing covers the 130g size in colourways from the official Blue Blue colour chart.

Information

The swimming action

The Leptis is a tail-heavy, semi-long metal jig with a fast fall speed, giving a clear bottom touch even in fast current. Its retrieve feel sits between heavy and light jigs, so tide changes and bites register clearly through the rod, and the balance keeps fatigue down over long sessions of continuous jigging.

When to throw it

Built with Tokyo Bay beltfish (tachiuo) jigging in mind, the Leptis suits light jigging from a boat over deep structure or channels where current runs hard, and it also accounts for seabass holding near the bottom. Use it when you want to select fewer, larger fish rather than working through a lot of smaller schooling fish.

How to work it

Drop the jig to the bottom and work it with short lifts and drops, pausing to let the tail-heavy body fall on a controlled line while reading the bottom touch through the rod tip. A steady vertical jigging rhythm with occasional pauses draws the best response in fast current.

The setup it likes

Pair the 130g with a light jigging rod rated to around 150g, a 3000-4000 size reel with a fast retrieve, PE2-3 braided main line and a 30-40 lb fluorocarbon leader suited to Tokyo Bay tachiuo and seabass jigging.
