Description

BARIKI is BlueBlue's offshore jigging rod built for blue-water species over 10kg, including yellowtail (buri/warasa), yellowtail amberjack (hiramasa) and greater amberjack (kanpachi). The name BARIKI combines "horsepower" and "strength," reflecting the stamina an angler needs to actively shake and rhythmically work a metal jig rather than let the rod do the work passively.

This listing stocks two models: BARIKI 604, a High Response rod (1.82m/6.0ft, 220g, lure weight to 180g/max 250g, PE4.0, 8kg max drag, 1-piece), and BARIKI 632, a Low Response rod (1.92m/6.3ft, 195g, lure weight to 125g/max 180g, PE4.0, 5kg max drag, 1-piece).

Information

The blank

Named for the horsepower (bariki) an angler needs to actively shake and rhythmically work a metal jig, this blank is built to transmit that effort directly rather than absorb it, with the High Response 604 giving a crisper, more direct feel than the Low Response 632.

What it's built for

An offshore jigging rod built for blue-water species over 10kg, including buri, hiramasa and kanpachi, used when actively working a jig with rhythm rather than letting the rod do the work passively. Choose the specific model and size that most closely matches your usual water and quarry before heading out for the day.

How it fishes

Work the jig with continuous, rhythmic strokes through the water column, using the 604's stiffer feel for fast, aggressive jigging or the 632's softer response for a steadier cadence, then lock up and lift hard the instant a fish commits.

The setup it likes

Pair with a lever-drag or high-speed conventional reel loaded with PE #4.0, matched to a stout fluorocarbon leader capable of handling the abrasion and shock load of a 10kg-plus pelagic close to the boat. Fine-tune the exact line class and leader strength to local structure and the average size of fish you expect to meet.
