Description

The Berkley Frittside 9 is a flat-side crankbait measuring 70mm and weighing 14g, fitted with a weighted lip that drives it down to the deeper 7-10ft zone. A Flash Disc built into the belly adds tracking stability and lowers the centre of gravity for a stable, accurate cast, while the slightly thinner body than a typical plastic crankbait gives a balsa-like action without losing the durability of a plastic bait. This size is equipped with Fusion19 treble hooks.

Its tight, sharp wobble and flash suit tough conditions such as low fish activity or high fishing pressure, working the deep-diving 7-10ft range.

Information

The swimming action

A flat-side body gives the Frittside 9 a tight, sharp wobble with plenty of flash, while a Flash Disc in the belly adds tracking stability and lowers the centre of gravity for a stable, accurate cast despite the slim, balsa-like build.

When to throw it

A weighted lip drives it into the deeper 7-10ft zone, making it suited to deep structure, ledges and drop-offs, and particularly effective in tough conditions such as low fish activity or heavy fishing pressure.

How to work it

Wind it down on a steady retrieve to reach depth and hold the tight wobble through the strike zone; grinding it into cover or bottom occasionally can trigger reaction bites from otherwise inactive fish.

The setup it likes

A medium-heavy crankbait casting rod with a parabolic action, a low-profile baitcaster geared around 5.4:1-6.4:1, and 12-14lb fluorocarbon suit this deep-diving flat-side crank.
