Information

The swimming action

Harapan Shad has a plump, well-fed baitfish silhouette paired with a paddle tail that pushes a wide, wobbling action on a straight retrieve. That steady, repeatable behaviour is part of why the design has stayed in regular rotation among anglers who fish the same water often enough to notice what actually draws strikes.

When to throw it

It's recommended for flathead, flounder, grouper species, rockfish, greenling and seabass, giving a bulky profile that reads as an easy meal. It is a sensible lure to keep rigged and ready rather than a narrow specialist, since the conditions it suits come up often enough across a normal session.

How to work it

Work it on a straight retrieve to cover water, or slow it right down with a drag-and-stay presentation along the bottom when fish are less active. It pays to change up the retrieve a few times early in a session rather than committing to one cadence, since the right speed can vary from day to day.

The setup it likes

A 6.5-7.5ft light-to-medium spinning rod, a 2000-3000 reel, 8-14lb line or PE0.6-1 with a fluorocarbon leader suit both sizes in this range. This setup keeps enough sensitivity to register a light take while still carrying enough reserve power to keep a fish clear of nearby structure.
