Information

The swimming action

Uprizing is a sinking vibration bait from Apia that runs a compact, efficient vibration action covering the water column on both the retrieve and the fall, with larger sizes stepping up to a stronger pulling thump for more casting distance.

When to throw it

It suits seabass keyed onto small, easy prey when a subtler thump is needed, and stepping up in size and weight covers deeper water, faster current and lower light where more pull and casting distance help. It is a sensible lure to keep rigged and ready rather than a narrow specialist, since the conditions it suits come up often enough across a normal session.

How to work it

Work it on a straight retrieve to cover water fast, or let it fall through the column on a semi-slack line; the vibration thump gives fish plenty to key onto in coloured or low-light water. It pays to change up the retrieve a few times early in a session rather than committing to one cadence, since the right speed can vary from day to day.

The setup it likes

A 7-8ft seabass spinning rod, a 2500-3000 reel, 10-14lb braid and a 14-18lb fluorocarbon leader suit the lighter sizes, stepping up leader strength slightly for the heavier Heavy Weight version in deep or fast-flowing water. This setup keeps enough sensitivity to register a light take while still carrying enough reserve power to keep a fish clear of nearby structure.
