Description

The Apia Bit-V 12 is a 48 mm, 12 g sinking metal vibration lure with a tight vibration action, downsized from the Bit-V 26 for shallow-water fishing. It uses a lighter zinc die-cast body in place of lead, and is fitted with size #8 trebles front and rear.

Its compact body casts well and is less likely to spook fish in clear, shallow water, making it suited to fast retrieves for reaction bites or to bottom-bouncing to imitate crustaceans. It is designed for seabass anglers working shallow flats, small rivers, harbours, and structure.

Information

The swimming action

Bit-V is a metal vibration lure with a tight, high-frequency wobble; the 12 uses a lighter zinc die-cast body for shallow water, while the 26 is denser and fast-sinking for a rapid drop through the water column.

When to throw it

A seabass vibration bait for shallow flats, small rivers, harbours and structure (12g) or deeper water and current where a quick drop is needed (26g); useful for fast, reaction-style fishing or bottom-bouncing to imitate crustaceans.

How to work it

Cast and retrieve fast and steady for reaction bites, or let it sink and bounce it along the bottom for a slower, crustacean-style presentation.

The setup it likes

Suits a light-to-medium seabass spinning rod (L–ML), a 2500-size reel, 8–10 lb fluorocarbon or 0.6–0.8 PE braid with a fluorocarbon leader.
