Description

Conolon (Conolon) is Abu Garcia's "classic taste x modern technology" series, reviving the nostalgic Conolon name. This listing covers the two spinning models: the CNLS-474UL, a 4-piece rod designed mainly for stream and headwater fishing with light plugs and small spoons in a green blank matched to the Cardinal 33 reel, and the CNLS-535L, a 5-piece rod designed mainly for stream and headwater fishing with heavy sinking minnows and spoons in a beige blank matched to the Cardinal 3 reel.

Both use Fuji SiC ring guides on a stainless frame (Fuji KR guide concept) and a natural-wood original gang grip.

Information

The blank

The blank loads progressively through a moderate taper, bending well into the mid-section under light spoon and minnow weights so the rod telegraphs the lure's wobble back through the handle, while the multi-piece build stays composed on the hook-set and doesn't feel disjointed at the ferrules.

What it's built for

Built for stream and headwater native-trout fishing where casts are short and accuracy matters more than distance, and the classic Conolon styling suits anglers who value a traditional wood-grip look alongside genuinely modern Fuji SiC guide and blank technology rather than a purely nostalgic throwback.

How it fishes

The 474UL suits light plugs and small spoons worked with a slow, twitch-and-pause retrieve through pocket water; the 535L is built for heavier sinking minnows and spoons fished with a steadier wind and occasional pauses to trigger a trout following from cover.

The setup it likes

Pair with a small 1000-2000 spinning reel in the spirit of the Cardinal 33 or Cardinal 3 the rods were designed around, 2-4lb fluorocarbon main line, and a short, fine fluorocarbon leader for clear, low native-trout stream water. Fine-tune line and leader strength up or down slightly to suit local conditions and the average size of fish encountered.

Straight answers

How is it priced?

We give you the cheapest available price, as we get it directly from the distributors. You pay what an angler in Japan pays, plus postage.

How long does delivery take?

Australia and the US: 7 to 14 business days on Standard or Economy, 2 to 7 on Express EMS. Europe and the UK: 10 to 20 business days, 3 to 7 on EMS. Every option is priced at checkout before you pay.

Will I be charged import duty or tax?
