BLACK STAR ROCK (ブラックスターロック) is Xesta's easy-to-handle rockfish rod series, built to cover rockfish game across Japan — from northern rockfish (soi) and greenling (ainame) to southern grouper species up to roughly 2kg — fishable from both shore and boat.

The lineup is built in 2-piece construction from Toray T-1100G carbon for a thinner, stronger blank with added torque.

The blank

2-piece Toray T-1100G blanks built thinner and stronger with added torque, giving an easy-to-handle rod with enough backbone to pull structure-oriented rockfish away from cover before they can bury into rock or kelp.

What it's built for

Covers rockfish game across Japan, from northern soi and ainame to southern grouper species up to roughly 2kg, fishable from both shore and boat across a range of depths and structure types.

How it fishes

Suits jig-head and soft-plastic rockfish techniques worked tight to structure, with enough power in the blank to lift fish clear once hooked before they can reach cover and cut the line on rock.

The setup it likes

Pair with a 2500–3000 spinning reel, PE0.8–1.5 mainline and a fluorocarbon leader suited to rocky structure, sizing the reel to the specific model's power and the depth of water being fished.
