Description

The Rhomy 2.4g is a Japanese area-trout spoon from Timon with a diamond-shaped, centre-balanced body, measuring 31mm and fitted with an e-hook #8 treble and a #1 split ring. The centre-weighted shape keeps air resistance low for long casts and helps the lure hold its depth on the retrieve, while dropping to a slow or dead-slow retrieve triggers a slide action alongside its usual wobble-roll.

On the fall it produces a rolling, leaf-like slide that Timon designed to draw strikes from stocked and holdover trout. This 2.4g listing carries four officially catalogued colourways, each cross-checked against the official Timon colour chart by its own JAN code.

Information

The swimming action

The Rhomy's diamond-shaped, centre-balanced body keeps air resistance low for long casts and holds its depth on a normal retrieve, while dropping to a slow or dead-slow retrieve brings out a rolling, leaf-like slide on top of its usual wobble-roll. This 2.4g size measures 31 mm.

When to throw it

Fish the Rhomy when stocked or holdover trout are holding at depth or have stopped responding to a straight retrieve, since the fall-triggered slide is designed to draw strikes on the drop rather than on the retrieve itself. It suits area lakes with some depth to work through.

How to work it

Fish it on a slow to dead-slow retrieve with pauses to let the diamond body slide and roll on the fall, which is where most strikes come. A faster retrieve still holds depth well if fish want more searching movement.

The setup it likes

A light area-trout spinning rod (UL–L), 1000–2500 size reel, 2–4 lb main line and a matching fluorocarbon leader suit this size, with enough softness in the tip to work the slow-fall action properly.
