Information

The blank

Carbon composite paired with C.N.T technology gives the Spike XPG a tenacious butt section built to move truly oversized fish, with Ocean Top, Ocean and K-style guides in stainless frames and SiC rings handling heavy line loads without failure.

What it's built for

TENRYU's 'eXtreme Power Game' series, built for expert anglers with the strength and experience to fight big fish on pencil baits — the SKX832S-HH is the heaviest-power 8'3" model, for tuna, yellowtail amberjack (hiramasa) and GT on PE8–10.

How it fishes

Work pencil baits on a full-effort surface retrieve designed to draw strikes from oversized pelagic fish, using the assist fore-grip and soft rubber gimbal cap for leverage through prolonged, heavy fights.

The setup it likes

Match to a large lever-drag or heavy spinning reel spooled with PE 8–10 and a 130–150 lb leader for tuna, hiramasa and GT on pencil baits.
