Description

Spike Travel (スパイクトラベル) is TENRYU's 3-piece travel version of the Spike offshore casting series, built to carry on an airplane for easy expedition fishing with pencil baits and poppers.

The blank is tuned for enough power to fight fish with a smooth bending curve, in a Regular (R) action. Guides combine OCEAN TOP, OCEAN GUIDE and K-GUIDE hardware with stainless frames and SiC rings, and the fore-grip carries TENRYU's NISHIJIN textile design.

Target species are yellowtail amberjack (hiramasa), mahi-mahi (shiira), GT, tuna and Japanese amberjack (buri).

How it fishes

Work pencil baits and poppers on an aggressive surface retrieve to draw reaction strikes, with OCEAN and K-GUIDE hardware handling the heavy line loads typical of offshore travel-casting trips.

The setup it likes

Pair with a large spinning reel spooled with PE 5.0–8.0 and an 80–100 lb fluorocarbon leader for expedition-style offshore casting.
