Description

Be Sticky Trout Hiro Motoyama Model (Be Sticky Trout Hiro Motoyama Model) is Smith's dedicated rod line for the "mountain-stream bait finesse" style Hiro Motoyama advocates.

Built around bait-finesse casting reels, it is engineered for accurate, low-trajectory casts of lightweight lures such as spinners without hesitation or trouble, while also comfortably handling the heavy sinking minnows now widely used on trout streams.

BST-HM models (2-piece) and BST-EXS models (irregular 3-piece) share a moderate-taper, UL-power blank designed to let the angler feel a light lure's own weight through the tip and read the release point easily on the cast. High-visibility colour thread wraps and a sight top help less experienced casters read their timing and keep twitch strokes regular.

Blanks are carbon with an unsanded finish. Guides are Fuji titanium-frame SiC on all models, in a small-diameter original setting.

Information

The blank

A moderate-taper, Ultra Light blank is built around bait-finesse casting reels, letting the tip load with a light lure's own weight so the release point on the cast is easy to feel and read.

What it's built for

Built for the mountain-stream bait-finesse style Hiro Motoyama advocates, casting light spinners and heavier sinking minnows alike on tight, overgrown stream water.

How it fishes

High-visibility thread wraps and a sight top help less experienced casters read timing and keep twitch strokes regular, while the blank stays sensitive enough to feel a light lure's own action through the retrieve.

The setup it likes

Pairs with a shallow-spool baitfinesse casting reel, 2-6lb fluorocarbon, matched to spinners and sinking minnows under 5g.
