Description

Shimano's Vanford (Vanford), the core model of the Magnum Lite spinning reel series, built for technical and finesse lure games from area trout and bass to egging, sea bass, and shore jigging. The body and rotor use Shimano's CI4+ carbon-fiber-reinforced resin for a lightweight, low-inertia feel, and the reel adds Infinity Cross for gear durability, Infinity Drive for powerful retrieve under load, and a Duracross drag washer rated at roughly 10x the wear resistance of the previous generation, plus a new Anti-Twist Fin to cut line trouble.

The 13-model lineup spans C2000S through C5000XG. The C2500SXG is the line's fastest 1000-size body (87cm per handle turn) for quick, technical follow-up work; the 4000MHG is a standard high-gear all-rounder suited to 1–1.5# PE line; and the C5000XG is built for light shore jigging and light shore casting after pelagic species (aomono), pairing a round handle knob with a long handle for control and reduced fatigue.

Information

The drivetrain

The CI4+ carbon-fibre-reinforced resin body and rotor keep the reel light and low-inertia, while Infinity Cross adds gear durability, Infinity Drive gives a powerful retrieve under load, and a Duracross drag washer rated at roughly 10x the wear resistance of the previous generation keeps drag feel consistent over time.

What it's built for

Spans technical and finesse lure games from area trout and bass up to egging, seabass and shore jigging; the C2500SXG suits quick, technical follow-up casts, the 4000MHG is a standard all-rounder on 1–1.5# PE, and the C5000XG is built for light shore jigging and casting after pelagic species (aomono).

How it fishes

The C2500SXG's fast 87cm-per-turn retrieve suits rapid re-casts on finicky fish, the 4000MHG balances speed and power for varied techniques, and the C5000XG's long handle and round knob reduce fatigue through repeated long-range casts and retrieves.

Spools and spares

Match the C2500SXG to light finesse rods on 2–4 lb line, the 4000MHG to a seabass or general spinning rod on 1–1.5# PE, and the C5000XG to a shore-jigging rod on 2–3# PE with a fluorocarbon leader.
