The Cardiff Stream Premium (カーディフストリームプレミアム) is Shimano's native trout rod for wild masu/trout (鱒) streams, part of the Cardiff trout-game line. Each model's length and shape are optimised individually, with grips that combine natural wood and aluminium parts for a finish that improves with use. The blank uses Spiral X Core and Hi-Power X construction with a faint silver-toned finish for precise casting in native stream fields.

The blank

Spiral X Core and Hi-Power X construction give a light, crisp blank with a faint silver-toned finish, each model's length and taper individually optimised for its role rather than scaled from a single master blank, so the spinning (S) and baitcasting (B) versions load slightly differently in the hand.

Built for wild masu/trout fishing on native streams, where short, accurate casts and direct feel matter more than distance, with grips combining natural wood and aluminium designed to age well with regular use.

How it fishes

Work small spoons, minnows and hard lures with a steady retrieve or gentle twitch, using the light UL blank to keep light lures loaded on short casts under the overhanging cover typical of native stream fishing.

The setup it likes

Pair the S54UL with a small spinning reel and the B54UL with a compact baitcasting reel, both loaded with 2–4 lb fluorocarbon or nylon and no wire trace.
